In 2020, the South African Federation for Mental Health embarked on a national campaign to break the silence around mental health. As the largest and only national mental health advocacy organisation in the country, SAFMH seeks to advocate for and uphold the rights of mental health care users and people living with mental health challenges in our country.
This Human Rights Day, we wanted to share more about our organisation, the work we do and the work we believe we still have to do to ensure that we prioritising mental health in our policies and services, especially during a pandemic, as a matter of upholding human rights.
