Secret Sunrise is a global community that celebrates life through music, movement and connection.
Using headphone technology, headsets are handed to you on arrival, highly trained facilitators guide you through a series of music of all genres. Sessions encompass the best facets of many of the best practices, from meditation, breathwork, movement, mindfulness and dance. Each session is unique, often curated according to a theme that attendees come together to celebrate and are even welcome to dress up to.
On 10 October 2019 Secret Sunrise celebrated World Mental Health Day through a Global Dance in 14 cities around the world to dance and unite for mental health. SAFMH and Cape Mental Health joined hands with Secret Sunrise to get the events in Johannesburg and Cape Town off the ground. The Johannesburg event was hosted at The Hamlet Foundation, a residential facility for intellectually disabled adults, with the intention of having a facilitated dance and meditation experience for mental health care users who otherwise would not have access to such events.
