Lockdown Media and Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden proudly present Standup@Comedy Jam, which will take place on May 1st, 2022, at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden.
A fun family day event featuring a mix of stand-up comedy and live music performances. With outstanding comedians such as Salesman, Suhyal, Khanyisa Bunu, and Tebogo Ntlhane, to name a few, along with the mature and soulful sound of Horns of Africa, featuring Laliboi and Spha Bembe, as well as DJs from the Mndeni Jazz Collective and other extremely talented young South African vocalists and MCs.
Lockdown Media and Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden are proud to announce that Standup@Comedy Jam “Picnic Edition” will donate a percentage of the proceeds to SA Federation for Mental Health with this first of its kind comedy and live music event, combining 7 hours of live entertainment. Along with arts and craft markets, stalls for food and drinks, entertainment for children, a jumping castle, face painting and more. The venue has safe and free parking on the premises and will take precautions to ensure that all COVID-19 protocols are adhered to.
Standup@Comedy Jam we got you, alcohol will be on sale strictly to persons over the age of 18 years old! Below are more details about the event, such as:
● Gates open at 8 am and performances start at 12 pm sharp all the way to 7 pm.
● Special Guests and celebrity appearances will be revealed 10 days before the event.
● General Admission:
o Adults – R 200 (20 years old and above)
o Teenagers – R150 (13 – 19 years old)
o Kids – R 50 (3 – 12 years old)
o VIP Tickets – Includes Picnic Kit options, see social media for more info, in collaboration with Dial-a-Picnic Catering Company
● SA Federation for Mental Health will be providing us with valuable information on mental health. SAFMH is a national non-governmental organisation and was founded in 1920. It has played an important role as an advocacy body, promoting community mental health care and fighting for the rights of persons with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities. Furthermore, in support of mental health, Stand Up @ Comedy Jam will also donate 10% of the ticket sales to SAFMH to assist in the promotion of mental health.
● Wenzile Madonsela will be at the event with their children’s book Melo’s Kingdom they will create a children’s book corner speaking about UBUNTU principles through images and texts. As part of the event’s endeavor to raise awareness on mental health issues, former Public Protector Adv. Thuli Madonsela will be making a digital appearance at the picnic to share some insight on mental wellness.
